For my first post of 2018, and after a while of no posts, I thought I’d post a face mask review! Superdrug has had an ongoing reduction on the L’Oreal Paris Face mask range, including the new sugar scrub masks. With a recent extra 20% off for students, I thought I’d go ahead and buy some! I’ve tried a couple of the sample sized version of the pure clay range which were incredible so I purchased the full size version of the Purity clay mask and the Smooth sugars glow scrub. I did want the detoxifying pure clay mask initially as I felt that was one of the best when I tried the samples, though they were all sold out in my local store! So here’s what I thought:
L’oreal Paris Pure Clay Purity Face Mask 50ml – I absolutely love clay masks over peel off’s or any other type of mask, and love the vibrant colours of this range. I bought the full size of this one as it was best suited to my skin’s needs – I wanted a mask that would, as the product claims, purify and mattify my skin without drying it out. This mask was great; it has a really neutral, clay like smell and feels very nourishing and cleansing when put on. I applied it with the Real Techniques prep brush from the Prime and Prep brush set instead of my fingers for a smooth and clean application and then left it on for around 10 minutes. After the clay had hardened, I removed it with water and patted it dry with a towel. The results were instantaneous – my skin felt soft and pampered, and it definitely gave me even more confidence in my skin and appearance. I’ll definitely be trying out the other masks in this range!
L’Oreal Smooth Sugar Glow Grapeseed Face and Lip Scrub 50ml – I had seen the rave over this new range and so bought the grapeseed scrub to ‘polish and boost radiance’ to my skin. I loved the idea of a scrub for both the face and lips especially as lip scrubs alone can usually cost the same amount as this scrub! Surprisingly, I did actually like the smell – it was quite rich and natural. I applied it with a small amount of water, before waiting for the sugars to melt into the skin to wash it off. I was surprised at how quickly it was ready to be taken off, and it did initially feel like simply using a exfoliating face wash. But the effects were incredible – it really did leave your skin feeling polished and glowing, which was commented on by some. It was also very nourishing and gentle on the skin, and I loved the fact that it contained sugar instead of exfoliating beads, which in the past had dried my skin out and so I had switched to cream facial washes and so this provided a great alternative.
Overall, these are pretty good face masks, with a decent amount in nice glass tubs, and simply a nice way to wind down after a long day.

Nothing calls summer relaxation like face masks. I bought quite a few from Boots, Superdrug and Lush but thought I’d share my thoughts on Superdrug’s own brand of face masks (Orange and black lava & sugar and spice) and Love Lettuce by Lush:
Superdrug’s own masks: I tried two of their masks – the orange and black lava mask and the sugar and spice self heating masks. Both left my skin feeling extremely soft even without moisturiser. The first one (orange and black lava) gave me an uncomfortable burning sensation for a few minutes and then stopped, and so I wouldn’t personally use that one again but it did have a great smell and I liked how it hardened into a clay consistency after a few minutes as when washing it off it felt very refreshing and my skin felt exfoliated. I definitely preferred and really loved the sugar and spice self heating mask. It was more of a sticky, jelly like texture with an amazing smell of caramel and Mediterranean clay as well as being of a mild caramel colour. I absolutely love the self heating element; it was one of those masks you could easily fall asleep in. I kept it on comfortably for 15 minutes and to be honest did not want to take it off! It left my skin extremely soft and smooth!
Lush: Love Lettuce – I can never decide which mask to buy from Lush so tried this one after a sales assistant recommended it. It has quite a rough texture with a very earthy smell which I really liked as a change from the more fruity/artificial smelling facial masks out there! I kept it on for 15 minutes without any discomfort and the whole way through it felt highly refreshing and I had that feeling of it really working on my face. After removing it the effects were amazing – it was a strong replacement for an exfoliator and left me with very radiant and healthy looking skin. Can’t go wrong with Lush!

Today marks 3 years of blogging with WordPress! :0 Coincidentally I’ve decided to review Boot’s (British pharmacy) own No7 ‘Beautiful Skin’ collection for all you skin lovers out there! This was reduced to only £7 after Christmas, and includes five of their skin products in sample sizes. I’ve never used No7 Skincare but definitely focus more on skincare that makeup, so had to try it! You can view it here: https://www.boots.com/en/No7-Beautiful-Skin-Collection_1893012/
No7 Beautiful Skin Overnight Revitalising Eye Balm (15ml):
I mainly bought this set because I wanted to try an eye balm for my dark under eye circles. In this set you’re given the full size for only a fraction of the price! It is a very soft gel which I use under my eyes before bed, and it’s definitely soothing. It has mixed reviews on the website and I can see why. While it applies without irritation for me at least, I haven’t noticed any major difference. Maybe this could change after weeks of usage; I’ll have to see. However, for the retail price of £12, I most likely won’t purchase it again.
No7 Beautiful Skin Day/Night Creams (25ml) each:
I definitely thought the full set was worth buying just for these! 25ml is quite generous considering the full sizes are 50ml and they were highly moisturising, especially the night cream. Like the eye balm, it was very soothing and comfortable on the skin, especially as I have quite dry skin. It really helps with hydration, leaving me with baby soft skin and the day one also has an Spf of 15! They left no irritation in comparison to other creams, and they definitely seemed tailored perfectly for their title – beautiful skin.
No7 Beautiful Skin Radiance Exfoliator (15ml):
This is perfect to compliment your daily facial wash. I use Neutrogena’s Spot and Stress Control facial scrub on a daily basis, and now use this once/twice a week in addition which reveals smoother and brighter looking skin as it claims, especially as you use it over a couple of weeks. You can definitely notice it’s effects as it leaves you with beautiful skin even without any moisturiser afterwards!
No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Lotion (30ml):
I don’t usually use cleansing lotions to remove makeup. I’ve tried a couple but didn’t find them convenient with removing it. This one was incredibly soft and moisturising on the skin, while aiding in removing makeup. It’s great on the skin, but I found it slightly stung as I attempted to remove eye makeup in comparison to skin makeup. It wasn’t a major problem, but it is the same problem I have with a lot of them and so for the original retail price, other than the fact that it doubles as a great moisturiser, I wouldn’t say it’s much different from less pricier ones!

I haven’t posted any reviews for a while on anything and so here is one on the NEW mascara by Rimmel London – ScandalEyes Reloaded, a spin off of their Scandaleyes collection. Currently, they are being promoted in Superdrug for £4.99 instead of the original price of 6.99, which is where I got mine from.
There are two different types available, the orange packaged one in ‘Black’ or this one in ‘Extreme Black’. It is quite pigmented, with visible effects in the volume and definition of your lashes after a few coats, as it can build up quite easily. The slightly tapered brush allows you to get into the roots of your lashes, and the inner lashes. It is quite liquidy at first because of the pigmentation but it does dry quickly on your lashes, and is reasonably easy to take off even just with water. It claims to last for ’24 hours’, which I haven’t tested as I don’t wear any makeup that long, but I have found that it lasts quite well without the need to re-apply which I never do throughout 6-8 hour days, and it still looks great!
Overall, the volume and longetivity of the look is the perks of this mascara, though it is quite liquidy which can smudge if you’re not careful!

Spring has finally arrived which is probably my favourite month as it’s not too cold or hot! The weather recently has been a bit mixed in England, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start bringing out the more spring-y beauty products!
NIVEA DAILY ESSENTIALS: TINTED MOISTURISING DAY CREAM
This is one of my main and favourite products from Nivea and one that I buy every year for the Spring/Summer period.I love how it’s not even from a ‘makeup’ brand but rather a widely known skin brand which many people are familiar with. This particular cream is a light tinted moisturiser which is always a good alternative from thicker foundations (which I never wear but there are many who do) and not only is it universal in that it is suitable for all skin types/tones, but it has an SPF of 15 which is ideal for the odd and unpredictable sunshine here and there like in the UK currently, and for the eventual summer period, especially when it’s not blazing hot but you still want some skin protection. It applies like a typical daily moisturiser and not only feels just as light on the skin, but the slight pigmentation gives you a beautiful and natural glow, especially when your skin is hit by the sun. Great for those summer selfies 😉 The price is also great and super affordable at less than £3.65/50ml and is currently on sale at Superdrug for less! It’s definitely worth buying for this year!– http://www.superdrug.com/Nivea/Nivea-Visage-Tinted-Moisturising-Cr%C3%A8me-50ml/p/462942?singleResultSearchPage=true
COLLECTION DIVINE WATERPROOF LASH MASCARA
This mascara is only £2.99 and is a cheap, lash defining mascara which is most importantly WATERPROOF which is definitely required for the upcoming heat! Check out my full review on this from last month: https://bushrajalilblog.wordpress.com/2016/01/22/review-collection-divine-lash-waterproof-mascara/
MAYBELLINE BABY LIPS
And finally… baby lipss!! I remember last year when these were the obsession throughout summer by many. Though it is a love it or hate it product, I love the fact that it’s a fun packaged lip balm with an amazing smell and tint, with the feeling of ultra moisturisation in hot, sticky weather! My favourites are Pink Punch and Cherry Me 😀 They are usually £2.99 each.

It’s clear that in busy day to day life, especially in college/school/uni, lots of us want to go to school with minimal makeup to look fresh and awake, without looking like we’re going to a circus. So I thought I’d share this simple and affordable look I’ve been wearing for the past few weeks!
Moisturizer is key rather than a foundation! Any will do; I usually wear Nivea’s Day Cream! The concealer used as part of this look is MUA’s Hide and Conceal in Natural which is super creamy and has great coverage for under the eyes/blemishes and is only £1- http://www.superdrug.com/MUA/MUA-Hide-and-Conceal-Concealer-Natural/p/590952
To set the concealer, I use Collection’s Pressed Powder which again has quite full coverage and is only £1.99 – http://www.superdrug.com/Collection/Collection-Pressed-Powder-17g-Candlelight-1/p/236780
For the eyes, I find that less can often be more. I simply used some white eyeliner by MUA for £1 (http://www.superdrug.com/MUA/MUA-Intense-Colour-Eyeliner-Snow-White/p/233914?singleResultSearchPage=true) and curled my lashes, before applying Collection’s clear mascara for £1.99 (http://www.superdrug.com/Collection/Collection-Colour-Lash-Mascara-Clear/p/932560?singleResultSearchPage=true) which is a better alternative to switch to from time to time as it has the benefit of strengthening your lashes and keeping them healthy, while uplifting them.
For the lips, I just applied some Vaseline, before adding a Revolution lipstick (super cheap and amazing drugstore brand I discovered recently, with similar pricing to MUA) for £1. – http://www.superdrug.com/Makeup-Revolution/Makeup-Revolution-Amazing-Lipstick-Nude/p/975494
And voila! That is the finished look! The grand total comes to…. £6.98 – way under a tenner! It’s unfortunate that I forgot to take a picture 😦 But let me know if you use any of these brands and what you think of em 🙂
PS – All opinions are my own and are not, or have ever been sponsored by any of the brands you see

For today’s post I’m going to do a quick review on this super affordable waterproof mascara by Collection which I’ve been using on its own for the last week, available at Boots or Superdrug (I got mine from Boots!) for £4.99 at it’s retail price, though I bought it on sale for £2.99.
For a start, the packaging is quite elegant for it’s pricing, and I loved the black and gold contrast. This specific mascara is intended to be waterproof, though there is also one especially for volume, from the same range with the same format. The wand wasn’t what i expected. I expected a larger wand simply because of the packaging but I actually really like it as it’s got very small bristles which are perfect for extending your lashes as they can get in between them well. I found that the application with a few coats is quite good at making your lashes look longer without looking like you’ve got much on. It also deepens the colour of your lashes well in my opinion, which give them a bit more definition.
As for the waterproof side of it, it is pretty much what it says. During this week I happened to be chopping onions which was a great test to see if they are indeed waterproof and from judgement I can say that there were no visible smudges or indication that it wasn’t waterproof. It can be tough to remove if you’ve applied a few coats so I guess the waterproof side works!
Overall, I think that although it is not one of the best to give ultra volume, considering I was looking specifically for a simple, cheap waterproof mascara, I think the quality is in line with the price. It’s a great, everyday mascara and I assume the volume version would be just as good and specialise in volume, rather than waterproof like this one!
